Insecure Writers Support Group

It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for another Insecure Writer's Support Group post. A huge shout-out to our fearless leader, Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh, for starting this group and giving anxious writers everywhere an outlet for their fears and way to connect with one another. If you're an insecure writer or just looking for a little support, click here to join us!

This month I'm a little anxious about time. Not just managing it, but having enough in the first place. I've been dealing with some health related issues which suck away at the vast majority of my time. Added to that I've got A to Z coming up (my first year as a co-host, yay!), blogging, and my own sorely neglected writing. Sometimes it feels a little overwhelming.

Do any of you IWSG-ers feel the same way? Any tips? Pieces of advice?

I hope this month goes well for all you writers out there. Keep up the good (sometimes exhausting) work! And don't forget to sign up for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge (which starts April 1st) and The Great and Powerful A to Z Theme Reveal Blogfest (happening March 23rd). Sign ups are still going on NOW! Just click on the links to enter and join us.

  1. Sorry to hear you have health issues. I know how those can sap your energy and slow you down. I hope you recover completely by April and have an awesome A-Z Challenge! :)

  2. March 23 or March 27? Us old folks get confused easily, lol. Feel better soon.

  3. You only get so much time and no one really knows how much. I say, spend it doing what you want - whatever you want. It's a gift after all. Good luck to you!

  4. Since Christmas, I've had nearly four weeks of work time vanish in a haze of taking care of sick kids and school holidays. It is depressing. If I get even a small portion of work done, I try to relish it and hope spring comes soon. But then again, that means Spring Break. Who am I kidding? I'm doomed.

  5. I'm not dealing with any health issues but this is my first year as co-host for A to Z also so I'm a little stressed about it. It's also my first year on the board of our state-wide writers group and we have our annual conference coming up in May. Too much going on.

  6. I'm new to A-Z, and I've already been impressed at how bloggers are reaching out to one another in support, even before April. I've done that, too, but I'm amazed at the wealth of generosity in this community. That makes the work ahead feel easier, and I'm more inspired.

It sounds as though you have a lot on your plate. I've had health issues in the past and know how much they can impact daily life...so take good care of yourself.

  7. I'm not terribly good at managing my time well, even when perfectly healthy. I can't really offer advice, but I can give sympathy. Good luck.

  8. Health issues do take a lot of time and bring a lot of stress. I hope everything is okay!

I also thought the theme reveal was the 23rd...

  9. I am sorry to hear you have been struggling with health issues. I do understand since i was sick and have to deal with my severe joint pain. Between work, house and pain, it is hard to find the energy. This is the biggest issue since, when one's health is compromised, one's energy goes down the toilet. It can get frustrating and depressing. I wanted to create some cards this past Sunday but could hardly move so this is when I must try to have logic take control of emotion. If my friend was suffering, what would I say to her? I ended up watching some movies and relaxing as best as I could. You will have better days, you will be able to get back to your writing and you will triumph! I will also put some soft music on and relax my mind. At time we forget to calm the mind down and we need to find a way to do this. Find what works for you to calm your mind and let the guilt of what you are unable to do not let it get the best of you. Soon the overwhelming feelings will begin to ease somewhat.

  11. Okay, first...get well dearest. Illness, as you know, can suck the life out of you (I speak from experience and know you do also). Second, the overwhelming opinion here is time and not enough of it. Maybe I should save this for my own post but is Mother Nature plucking minutes out of our hours, hours out of our days? I'm older and always heard time goes by faster so I thought maybe it was just me. But the universal theme here is the same. I wonder what an astrologer would say about this phenomenon... So, the good news, if you can consider it such, is you're not alone:)

  14. Our minds and bodies are so connected that if one is hurting the other doesn't work so good. I hope you feel better soon. Get lots of rest.
