C is for Clones

Good morning A to Z-ers. I hope everyone's having a good time so far. Isn't it nice when we're still early into the challenge and it's all still fresh? I'm having such a great time popping by everyone's blogs and reading up on all your posts.

Someone asked me yesterday if I planned on publishing the results on each day's vote at some point. To which I want to say a big HECK YEAH! There will be an A to Z Reflections Post open from May 4th to May 8th (I'll give a reminder and supply more details in my "Z" post). For my reflections, among other things, I plan on posting the A to Z Smackdown results, so if you're interested in finding out how your taste align with other bloggers, check back then! 

Now back to today's A to Z Movie Smackdown, which features one of my very favorite film categories . . . Clones! In fact, there were so many great clone movies I wanted to mention. The ever tragic Never Let Me Go (I had to break out the tissues over that one). And not to forget one of my old favorites, Multiplicity. But alas, I could only pick two, and the following made for a great match up. So cast your VOTE for today's picks of . . .

    Again, haven't seen these movies. Haven't even *heard* of them. Which is why I just marked them as 'to watch'. For you know, when I have that time.

    I haven't seen The Island. Alas, I am not a big Michael Bay fan, but I do love them explosions as much as the next man. I thought The 6th Day was decent enough, so yeah, I'm gonna vote for that instead.

    Oooh Clones!!!! I love movies with clones in them... and I loved both The 6th Day and The Island. If I had to choose one, hmmmmm, I'd go with The Island because it was a little more dystopian and I do love a good dystopian story!

    I haven't seen either. I might give The Island a try. I don't like Gov. Ahnold , so I stay away from his movies. The one clone movie that I remember seeing and enjoying was Multiplicity with Michael Keaton.

    Totally The Island - that film pops into my head for the most random of reasons and I have to say I wasn't overly fond of The 6th Day.

    Wow. My old Netflix account showed that I had rated almost 1,600 movies, but I have never even heard of these two. (Thanks to CKLW in Windsor, my childhood was spent in front of the TV watching old B/W movies.)

    Can't vote because I haven't seen The Sixth Day but I will add it to my list. I was pondering a story idea about a person who found out that they were only born to be eventually harvested, when I saw The Island and cringed. All of our best story ideas never turn out to be unique!

    I am going to go with Sixth Day only because I saw it. Haven't heard of the other one, might have to look for it sometime. Glad you are going to do the rests of your smackdowns; will be interesting to see what movies win (lots of tallying you'll be doing :)

    My husband really liked The Island. I've seen bits and pieces of it. Had some likeable characters.

    Not surprised because I'm usually more of a Bollywood person. Do you know about Bollywood? It is the Indian movie industry and oh my God I love it so much, haha! :D

    I can't really vote since I have only seen one of them, but what the hell, I'm gonna vote for that one :D The Island. It's wasn't a great movie but I enjoyed it.

    Well I'm not familiar with either of the movies you posted, so I can't vote. But OH my goodness Never Let Me Go made a HUGE impression on me. I think about that movie all the time.

    It seems I've seen both, but don't remember anything about them. A clone movie I always liked was from the 70's (I think) The Boys From Brazil with Gregory Peck. It's about clones of Hitler.

    Although I haven't seen either of those movies, my vote is for THE ISLAND because it's the only one between the two that I've heard of and it's also the only one I would watch. I'm a sucker for Schwarzenegger in other films including COMMANDO but.... The 6TH DAY??? I have no plans to watch that any time soon, if ever. That one just sounds corny. Ha!

    Saw The 6th Day a few years ago. I liked it at the time, but I'm not sure if I still would after watching it again. Heard of The Island, but haven't watched it. Maybe I will.

    Sadly, I should have heard of both of these, because I love sci-fi AND clones, but these movies went all ninja and snuck by me. I'll have to add them to my list to check out. I'll play along though and vote for the Island because I'd like to be relaxing on one right now (minus clones).

    Haven't seen these movies, haven't even heard of them. Sci-fi is not one of my favourite genres.
