I is for Island Isolation

For today's A to Z Movie Smackdown, I'm featuring two movies that, while they fall under the same category, are very different in tone and content. One is a dark drama, the other a silly comedy. One received Oscar nominations, the other is, well, a guilty pleasure movie. I'm really interested to see how you guys VOTE on this one. So cast your ballot and let me know what you think of . . .

I is for Island Isolation

  1. Definitely Cast Away, based solely on the stirring performance given by Wilson the volleyball. :D

  2. Never seen Castaway. One of my roommates has Six Days Seven Nights hanging around. Maybe I should watch it.

  3. I haven't see Six Days, Seven Nights, so I'm going to have to vote for Cast Away. It was an interesting movie to watch once, but I don't think I'd bother again :)

  4. Oh bother, I really disliked Cast Away and I haven't seen the other one so I'm going to have to sit on the fence again! I'm not fond of cast away stories, I think it stems from really disliking Robinson Crusoe as a child :).

  5. I didn't like Cast Away either. So I'll vote for Six Days Seven Nights. (Which is a really awful title for a film.)

  6. First time I've been to your site. What a clever idea. I didn't know either of these films so watched the trailers. Despite the comments above, I'm going to vote for Cast Away and hire the film. Hope I don't regret it. :-)

  8. I haven't seen either so I probably shouldn't vote, but I love your theme!

  10. By far, Cast Away. It's much more realistic to me.

  12. Castaway. Not that I don't love Harrison, but Anne Heche I can live without most of the time. Liked her in volcano though.

  13. Castaway didn't really do it for me. So I'm going with the guilty pleasure. :)

  14. I only saw Castaway, but I loved it. Not an Anne Heche fan.

  15. What a fun theme! It's been a long time since I've seen both of these, but I'm a romantic comedy girl, so I'll definitely vote for that one. :)

  16. Castaway! Now I want to watch it again.

  17. I've only seen Castaway so I guess I'll vote for that one. It was a really good movie though.

  19. I have to go with Cast Away even though I enjoy the other movie because it is fun. Cast Away is just a better film

  20. Castaway gets my vote. I liked how he made the delivery all those years later.

  21. Going with Castaway because that's the only one here I've seen.

  22. Definitely Cast Away! Though Six Days was good too. Pleasantly surprised to see how feel the same as I do about Anne Heche ;-) Love this theme!

  23. Castaway was a great movie. I loved that show. Six Fays and Seven Nights? Ugh. What a stinker that was.

  24. Neither of them rank particularly highly on my 'most enjoyed' list, but if I had to pick one it would probably be Cast Away. Or then again....oh I don't know!

  25. I haven't actually watched Six Days Seven Nights, but now I want to! I don't know if it's fair for me to vote, but I was just in Fiji where Castaway was filmed!

  26. Cast Away by a thousand miles. Tom Hanks at his best.

  30. Cast Away. Brilliantly bold ending.

  31. I've only seen Cast Away, but it's pretty hard to beat Tom Hanks and a volleyball, so they've got my vote.

  32. Cast Away. Ok I have seen only bits and pieces of both movies but I like Tom Hanks and feel how hard it must have been to shoot this movie :)

  33. Castaway for sure! Ford and Heche had zero chemistry.

  34. Doesn't look like my vote will really be needed this time around, but I'm still going to give my thumbs up for Cast Away. Elle @ Erratic Project Junkie

  35. Oh dear... I've been scrolling through your posts trying to find a smackdown where I've actually seen both the movies. It's proving rather difficult! I think I need to get out more...

  36. Luckily for me, I have watched both these movies! :)
I would vote for Six Days Seven Nights. I think it's a fun, "time-pass" kind of movie... the kind you could watch any time you're bored and have nothing else to do. Cast Away is brilliant, but the end is a bit depressing for my taste. I wouldn't watch it again by choice.
