Halloween Howl-Fest

It's September 22nd and the first day of Autumn, which for me means that it's FINALLY time to start celebrating Halloween. Yaaaay!!! As a holiday addict, I like to do something special to celebrate this most haunted, most spooky, most terrifying time of year, and what better way than to have a cinematic smack-down?

That's right, I'm pitting my favorite Halloween movies against one another to see just which one best embodies the holiday they represent. It's the battle royale and only the best of the best can make it to the final four (or the final scare as I like to call it). Sixty-four teams, four conferences, ONE winner.

Take a look at the contenders . . .

Check back tomorrow for the first of the conferences (Magical) and cast a vote for your favorite movies. Whether your preference is based on favorite characters, nostalgia, cool plot-lines or the quintessential "scare" factor, that's for you to decide.

Happy Fall everyone!!

  1. I've seen more of those than I would have expected. I mean, your choices are more eclectic than I would have expected for a "horror" movie thing; therefore, I have seen more of them.

    1. Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of "horror" films. My personal preference runs more towards suspenseful and quirky.

  2. I don't think I've seen most of these movies. But I have seen The Worst Witch. My siblings and I used to watch that all the time as kids. Too awesome...but against Harry Potter?

Awesome idea. Can't wait to see how it all shakes out.

  4. Quick Question:
In the Undead bracket, can you clarify which version of Fright Night, Dawn of the Dead, and Evil Dead?
In the Supernatural bracket, which version of The Omen and The Ring?
And what is up with the Monstrous section? It looks like Scooby Doo and Ghostbusters are in the same spot, as is Gremlins/Tremors, Hellboy/League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Addams Family/Dark Shadows.

    1. Good point. Sometimes I forget that there are more than one version of certain movies and not JUST the ones I like haha. I will make sure to explain and specify for each conference and make it a bit more clear.
