Insecure Writer's Support Group

It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for another Insecure Writer's Support Group post. A huge shout out to Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh and co-hosts of the month for all their hard work! If you're an insecure writer or looking to support those of us who are, check us out here

My insecurities for the month are simple. I'm moving. I'm so excited to be fleeing my tiny apartment and setting up camp in a wonderful house with my husband just in time for my baby to make a big debut, but it's hard work getting things all set up. It takes away from other important activities like writing and, you know, my sanity.

On the other hand, I get an office. A real life, all to myself office. No squeezing my desk in a corner behind a couch or in a dark area of my already overcrowded bedroom. For the first time in my life I get to set up a space JUST for writing. And that makes all the chaos of moving totally worth it.

So I guess maybe my monthly insecurities can -- for once -- be considered less substantial than my celebrations. Yay for June!

What about you guys? Any insecurities weighing you down this month?

  1. How exciting with the move and your own office!! It does all come together eventually with the move; you know that, but can be challenging during those days of it. I think the only insecurity and its really not much is we are getting ready to put hubby's parents' house on the market in the San Diego area. Hoping for a quick sale so we can decide if we want to buy where we are living now.

  2. Good for you, Lauren. I also happen to have an office of sorts, though it has morphed into more of a man cave recently. :D

  3. That's awesome! No stress - it's just a momentary pause. You'll be in a better place when it's over.

  4. In April, I moved out of my crappy apartment and into a house too and I love it. My desk used to be in the corning of the living room next to the couch. Haha! Now it's in my bedroom but it's big enough to do a partial office. Good luck with the move...and the unpacking. :P

  6. I bet you're so excited, I loved moving into a house of my own in December. I'm so jealous that you have an office to yourself, though; I think I need to upgrade my house!

  7. Moving is so much work but how exciting to get your very own office. I love my space and worry when we downsize sometime in the next two years I would have as much writing space.

  8. Good luck with the move, and with getting ready for the baby.

  9. Having your own office is HUGE! I converted my massage therapy treatment room into my writing office and it's mine...all mine. I call it organized clutter, but I love it. And before long that little baby will be in his little swing or seat snoozing away while you madly get those words down on the computer.

Hurray for the house too. So happy for the family.
My insecurity is about setting August as a deadline for Time Trials, book #3. Sadly, that's not what my post is about...maybe that's part of the problem:)

  10. Super awesome that you will have a real office! That'll make writing so much easier for you. I have an office, but it is in desperate need of an overhaul. My husband set it up while I was away at school and let's just say it's a bit of a disaster!

  11. AN OFFICE!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! It's so fluffy I'm gunna diiiiiiie!!!!!!

Seriously, though. Offices are the best. I didn't know HOW awesome they were until I had my own, and now every time someone comes to visit and I have to convert said office into the guest room, I get all sorts of bent out of shape. Haha!

Yay for you! (I'm also slightly jealous that you will be home owners. The only thing better than having your own office is having your own office in a home you actually own... *sigh*...) GOOD LUCK MOVING!!
