Well A to Z-ers, it's another beautiful day for an A to Z Movie Smackdown. Today we're kicking it back all the way to 1992 when two of the greatest movies of all time hit the big screen. Though they share a common thread – today's "T" category, trials
– they are very different in tone. Still, they were both nominated for Academy Awards (one of them actually winning for Best Supporting Actress), and equally amazing. I don't know how you're going to choose between these two! Cast your VOTE and let me know which you think it today's winner.
T is for Trial:
[Runner up pairings: Fracture vs. The Lincoln Lawyer]

I love both films, but A Few Good Men has one of my all-time favorite movie lines: "Well, you can't handle the truth!" :D
ReplyDeleteMy Cousin Vinny - hands down, but that might be because I really dislike the other one :)

Vinny, youts gots my vote... did I say youts? Youts better believe it.
ReplyDeleteFinally, movies I've actually seen and remember, lol. 'A Few Good Men' gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteA Few Good Men! One of my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI haven't see any of these! I've heard The Lincoln Lawyer was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteMy Cousin Vinny v. any other movie ever made = VINNYVINNYVINNYVINNY
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen My Cousin Vinny, so my vote goes to A Few Good Men. That's a really good movie.
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched the alts so it has to be few good men.
ReplyDeleteLove them both. It's a tough call since they're so different, but I'll go with My Cousin Vinny.
ReplyDeleteHave to go with My Cousin Vinny - an all time great, and one that law professors enjoy showing in class as it's one of the only movies that does a good job of accurately portraying criminal procedure and rules of evidence.
ReplyDeleteGoing with a Few Good Men since I didn't see the other one :)

Ughhhhh.... it's too hard. On the one hand "Few Good Men" is so good and I'm a huge Aaron Sorkin fan. On the other hand, Vinny is so funny and more like what I'd probably be like in a court room.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide. Tie.
Hi from Nagzilla bloghopping A to Z
'Trial' is such a good T-word! And there are good dramatic films with a trial in the plot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my T-post.
Best wishes,
Anna
My Cousin Vinny wins the blue ribbon between these two films. Thanks for dropping by! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteOh I go actually with My Cousin Vinny. It does not take itself seriously which I felt A few Good Men took themselves as over the top "We are great actors" too serious. I actually found that film arrogant. So all for Vinny and who knows? Maybe Marisa Tomei did actually win and Jack Palance didn't screw up
ReplyDeleteNext to The Princess Bride, A Few Good Men is the most quoted movie in our house so it gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteOH COME ON! I cannot choose... they are so different and both fantastic films
ReplyDeleteYou can't handle the truth! Clearly, A Few Good Men.
ReplyDeleteTossing my vote in for A Few Good Men. Riveting stuff.
ReplyDeleteI have seen both but as a Marine Corps Dad I will have to say "A Few Good Men"(and Women as it is my daughter who is a Captain in the Corps...Semper Fi!
ReplyDeleteLove them both. But on the basis of views, I have to say that My Cousin Vinnie wins. I think I've seen it about 12 times. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't seen either. I guess I should bow out of this one :)
ReplyDeleteMy Cousin Vinny - Totally hilarious - one of my all time favorites. I can basically quote the entire movie! -http://50andfabulousblog.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed both when I saw them originally, but recently we watch My Cousin Vinny and it seemed to have lost it's appeal. So I would go with A Few Men.
ReplyDeleteAwesome topic! Visiting from A-Z (http://comingbackintolife.blogspot.com/). Loved reading your older posts, too!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, I haven't seen either. I've heard of both, but never actually saw them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED My Cousin Vinny!
ReplyDeleteThe endlessly quotable A Few Good Men! "Grave danger" "Is there any other kind?"
ReplyDeleteLove both of these. But I rewatch My Cousin Vinny more, so I guess it gets the vote.
