With the Blogging A to Z Challenge finally over, I find that I don't know quite what to do with myself. So I've decided to fill the now empty space in my life with movies! And good lord are there a lot of movies coming up this summer. Check out my list:
__________________________________________________________________________________
MAY:
The Avengers - May 4
Dark Shadows - May 11
Battleship - May 18
What to Expect When You're Expecting - May 18
What to Expect When You're Expecting - May 18
Men in Black III - May 25
CONCERNS:
I'm still not sure how I feel about the direction Tim Burton took with the new Dark Shadows film, but I loved the original TV series so I still plan on going to see it.
MOST ANTICIPATED:
Definitely The Avengers. Joss Whedon, Robert Downey, Jr., the whole team squabbling and ganging up on one another like a bunch of kids . . . this is definitely going to be a winner.

JUNE:
Snow White and the Huntsman - June 1
Prometheus - June 8
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - June 22
Brave - June 22
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World - June 22
G.I. Joe: Retaliation - June 29
YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING:
Never would I have imagined that they'd make a sequel to the truly horrible G.I. Joe film. But they are, and I am not ashamed to admit that I need to see it. It looks terrible in a seriously awesome kind of way.
MOST ANTICIPATED:
Prometheus! I have been waiting for this day to come for years. Finally, the long anticipated Ridley Scott prequel (well, sort of) to the Aliens franchise.

JULY:
The Amazing Spider-Man - July 3
Red Lights - July 13
The Dark Knight Rises - July 20
Neighborhood Watch - July 27
Step Up Revolution - July 27
GUILTY PLEASURE:
It's embarrassing to admit, but I love these incredibly cheesy dance movies, and I'm really looking forward to the latest addition to the Step Up franchise. No mocking me.
MOST ANTICIPATED:
If there's anyone out there that doesn't consider The Dark Knight Rises to be the most anticipated movie of the summer, they're certainly not a friend of mine. I get goosebumps every time I see the trailer.

AUGUST:
The Bourne Legacy - August 3
Total Recall - August 3
Hope Springs - August 10
The Awakening - August 10
The Expendables 2 - August 17
ParaNorman - August 17
Premium Rush - August 24
Lawless - August 31
MOST ANTICIPATED:
The Bourne Legacy, but just by a hair. I can't wait to see where they're going to take the franchise with Aaron Cross. Runner up for most anticipated August movie is Total Recall, which also looks incredible, and I'm excited to see a completely different adaptation of Philip K. Dick's short story than Arnold Schwarzenegger's.

Spider-Man swinging to the rescue? Abraham Lincoln kicking some vampire butt? A little kid named Norman who has the ability to speak to the dead? What movies are you looking forward to this summer?
All high on my list! Leading up to the big one - The Hobbit.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing Avengers on Friday! I can't wait!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with you on GI Joe. I can't believe they've tackled a sequel to that awfulness.
Avengers is my most anticipated. Honestly, the 2nd Nolan Batman was overrated. Ledger didn't even do his own laugh. I know he died, and we're all supposed to love his Joker, but it was the same performance that Nicholsan gave.
ReplyDeleteAvengers, Prometheus, and Batman are my Triumvirate movies... everything else might be good or not, but those three I'm making my summer plans around.
ReplyDeleteAnd I realize that I didn't use Triumvirate right... but I really wanted to use it.
DeleteGod, me too. Seriously, I've been excited about a lot of movies in the past, and I always love when the summer rolls around and there are a ton of great movies out. But I think 2012 takes the cake on this one. I've been waiting for Prometheus since I saw Alien as a kid, Avengers since I got into comic books years ago, and Dark Knight Rises from the moment I stepped out of Batman Begins. It's the ULTIMATE triumvirate :)
DeleteSo many good movies on your list. The Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman (despite Kristen Stewart), The Dark Knight Rises, and The Bourne Legacy are at the very top of my list.
ReplyDeleteYou've covered pretty much everything worth looking forward to this summer. Most anticipated for me would be The Dark Knight Rises, though if we were to stretch beyond summer, then that honor would go to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
ReplyDeleteIt's KILLING me that it's taking so long for The Hobbit to come out. For the love of god, release it already!!! But The Dark Knight Rises - hell yes. I seriously cannot wait!
Deletefabulous movies are coming up. The main ones I'm looking forward to are Prometheus and Brave.
ReplyDeleteHa, I've already seen the Avengers! It's been out for a week here. Yup, squabbling is right. It was awesome.
ReplyDeleteGood list! Mine:
ReplyDeleteMay - Avengers, The Dictator, Men in Black 3, Moonrise Kingdom
June - Snow White and the Huntsman, Prometheus, Rock of Ages, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, People Like Us
July - The Amazing Spider-Man, Savages, Ted, The Dark Knight Rises
August - The Bourne Legacy, Total Recall, The Campaign, The Expendables 2, Premium Rush, The Good Doctor, Lawless
But it's always fun to discover the movies you weren't really expecting to love.
I was really annoyed by the upcoming TOTAL RECALL...and then I saw the trailer. Dad gave it huge praise, and he loved the original. BOURNE LEGACY should be great. So hoping it is. Can't wait to take the kids to see BRAVE. PROMETHEUS is a must, as is DARK KNIGHT RISES. I think AVENGERS is higher on my list than the third Batman, though. Not by much.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about Total Recall. I thought it was a terrible idea, but the preview was so good it completely changed my mind. Avengers looks so amazing. I honestly am jumping out of my skin waiting for Friday to get here so I can go see it. I trust that Joss Whedon will have done right by the franchise and made it even bigger and better than it already is!
DeleteAlex – Oh I know. I feel like I’ve been waiting for the Hobbit since Return of the King was in theaters.
ReplyDeleteCassie – I’ll be there as well. Avengers Assemble!!!
Andrew – I’m not sure I agree with you there. I loved The Dark Knight. I thought it was ominous and dark, and took the franchise to a whole new level. But I am really excited about Avengers. I think Avengers, Prometheus and Dark Knight Rises are my three most anticipated movies of this decade, rather than just 2012.
MJ – I feel the same about the casting, but Snow White and the Huntsman still looks AMAZING. And I’m so glad there’s someone else as excited about Bourne as I am!
Lynda – Excellent, excellent taste!
Linda – I am so jealous. I can’t believe you already saw it. I hope it was as amazing as I expect.
Tony – Your list is great too. You have a few on there that I also really want to see (like Moonrise Kingdom), but left of my list because it was getting too long. It’s going to be a great summer.
I really, really, really want to see the Avengers and I know it's not going to happen this weekend :(
ReplyDeleteI'm stoked for Dark Shadows (though I share your concerns about Burton's directing, I know it'll be visually stunning and I dig Depp!), MIB III, & Abe Lincoln VK. I didn't even know about all those other flicks you mentioned. (Yes, I've been under a rock since...gah, since January!) ;-)
ReplyDeleteSome Dark Romantic
I hated G.I. Joe, but G.I. Joe: Retaliation looks amazing. really looking forward to it.
