Good morning A to Z-ers. It's the first day of a new week filled with alphabetic awesomeness, and I'm ready to get down to some more A to Z Movie Smackdowns. For today's double feature, I'm taking a look at two franchises rather than stand-alone films. They're both so fantastic that, to be perfectly honest, I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favorite. Fortunately, that's what you're here for! So VOTE for the best of the best in . . .
E is for Espionage:
[First Alternate Pairing: Mission Impossible vs. Red]

As much as I love the Bourne series, this one goes to Bond, easily. :D
ReplyDeleteYes, Bond all the way! There's enough of them everyone can have their own favourite, too.
ReplyDeleteI've seen only one Bourne movie, and I've forgotten most of it. James Bond for sure.
ReplyDeleteOh now franchises are hard - if it was movies it would be Bourne hands down, because I really don't like Casino Royale, but I love Skyfall. Hmm ... I guess I'm going to have to go for Bourne because the franchise treats women better. As for MI and Red - Red, simply because it's awesome!

Agh! You have made this really difficult, 'cause I like both franchises, even if some of the movies are a bit duff. Even if I go for just one movie from each to compare, I don't know how I choose between Bourne Legacy and Skyfall - I think I'll have to go with Dame Judy Dench on this one and vote Bond. :)

Bourne all the way! No question!
ReplyDeleteBourne for sure, if I have to choose between these two movies. But I still remember my parents going to see the first Bond movie in 1962 and telling me I was too young (15) to go. I've since managed to see each and every movie and as a franchise, it wins hands down.
ReplyDeleteNow that's the most difficult one yet! Crap... Bourne!
ReplyDeleteOut of all four, I'm a Mission: Impossible guy.
ReplyDeleteBourne has it for the win. Mission impossible as a second.
ReplyDeleteI have to go with the Bourne series. They are awesome!
ReplyDeleteTough choice but this Bond I have to vote for (or Sean Connery for that matter)
ReplyDeleteHey, movies I've seen! I can actually weigh in! I am not a fan of Bond, not at all. Love me some Jason Bourne.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the first two Bourne movies and I've never been a big Bond fan. So I go with Jason Bourne.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, this is a hard one. Both enjoyable movies and both good looking lead actors. I'm going to flip a coin on this one. Bond won!
ReplyDeletebetty
I didn't even have to THINK about this one. Bond for sure. Love Bourne, but Bond is forever...
ReplyDeleteLove Bond, but I really liked The Bourne Identity!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you're in the A-to-Z!

This is a toss up for me. I love both movies. Do I have to choose?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of the options!
ReplyDeleteBond as a series is the better one. But between Casino Royal and Identity, I prefer the latter. There was a bit more of a mystery.
ReplyDeleteBond, but with Sean Connery (definitely not Roget Moore)
ReplyDeleteThe one with the more memorable theme song... it's just been a great series of films. not that I don't like the other...
ReplyDeleteWelcome in the letter "E"... thank you!

Which direction we are going!
HOLLYWOOD NUTS!
Come Visit: You know you want to know if me or Hollywood... is Nuts?
Tough call. Overall...... Bond.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving Daniel Craig as Bond.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun theme you chose!
ReplyDeleteI vote for James Bond. Yes. Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
ReplyDeleteBored with Bond so Bourne for me :-) What a fun idea this is. And many thanks, too, for managing to find time to visit my blog.

You picked two of my favorites. Daniel Craig is such a refreshing Bond, I have to pick him.
ReplyDeleteOh man. That's a tough choice... Bourne was great when Matt Damon played the part (sorry, Hawkeye), and Bond had a great reboot with Daniel Craig. I'm going to have to go with the Matt Damon Bourne series!
ReplyDeleteEven though I know they're super cheesy (especially the older ones with Sean Connery), I still love the Bond movies. An easy choice! As for Mission: Impossible vs. Red, I'll take Bruce Willis in a campy comic book movie over psycho Scientologist Tom Cruise any day. Another easy choice!
ReplyDeleteI tried watching Bourne Identity but couldn't get into it, so I'd go with Casino Royale by default. But Casino Royale also has one of the sexiest scenes ever (Bond+tux+shower=yum!) so winner by a long shot!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the rest of the challenge!
Hi from Nagzilla bloghopping A to Z
Bourne. James Bond is just not doing anything for me. Together with the first alternate pairing, I would go with Red.

I've loved the Bond series since I was 6, so I think I'll have to side with good old England this time. Really close though, good choices!
ReplyDeleteEASILY Bond. So much more ingrained into pop culture and such a better character. Nice to meet you, this is a great idea :)
ReplyDeleteMichael D'Agostino, A-Z Challenge participant :)
Mmmm... Hard to pick, yes. For actual story I'd go with the Bourne books--Ian Fleming's prose just doesn't do it for me--but if we're sticking to actual movies, then Casino Royale would be my pick :) Thanks for stopping over at Quiet Laughter for my E post!
ReplyDeleteNot much of a movie goer but I have read some of the Bourne books so I'll vote for that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping in Under The Porch Light...here from the A to Z Challenge.
Definitely Bourne.
ReplyDeleteBourne Identity hands-down.
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for Bourne, I like his movies and the character. Not sold on Craig as The Bond character. He's an interesting agent, but he reminds me more of a British bulldog than the suave secret agent.
ReplyDeleteBourne Identity, most definitely! What a fun theme.
ReplyDeleteLove them both but Bourne wins my vote.
ReplyDeleteHow bad is it that I hear espionage and immediately think Austin Powers?
ReplyDeleteCasino Royal for sure :D
ReplyDeleteI love how simple and straight forward your theme and posts are! I have to go with James Bond especially Daniel Craig James Bond. For the alternate pairing, definitely Red - all star cast with one bad ass Helen Mirren!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and for commenting that it's one of the best themes you've seen for the challenge. That really means a lot coming from a co-host!
Brandy from Brandy's Bustlings
Bourne- never got into JB at all
ReplyDeleteIt's Casino Royale for me! I've only read the Bourne Identity and not seen the movie, so I suppose it's not really a level playing field.
ReplyDeleteI have to go with The Bourne Identity. I have watched the movies so many times and still love them. Casino Royale is a good movie too and James Bond is James bond. But this one goes to Matt Damon. In the Alternate Pairing RED is the winner.
ReplyDeleteI missed this somehow:) I have to go with Bond-he is the best spy no matter who plays him (I like Sean Connery). The Bourne films with Matt Damon are the best to me not the remake
ReplyDeleteI prefer Casino Royale-I like Daniel Craig and there's a little more humour in the Bond films.
ReplyDeleteJames Bond wins every time for me. Casino Royale is a great film.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a great theme for the A-Z Challenge.
I like your theme and have been following your posts, but sadly, this is the first match-up that I've actually seen both sides of (well at least a few James Bond, not all). I guess I'm not as well-versed in movies as I thought I was. As much as I enjoyed Daniel Craig's Bond, I really like the story behind Bourne. So, Bourne gets my vote! And Red for the alternative pairing.
ReplyDeleteWithout Bourne, Bond would've never come back reinvented. Gotta give it to Bourne.
ReplyDeleteBourne!! Points To Ponder
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be Bond! Drama, chiselled looks, sex, explosions, cheese and great soundtrack every time ;) #AtoZChallenge from Carol Cameleon at VirtuallyAllSorts.com @AllSortsHere
